Two-step verification

One way you can keep your church's database safe is by setting up two-step verification. With two-step verification set up, when you log in with your password, you'll be sent a code via text message or your authenticator app to verify that you are the one logging in.

Two-step verification is available for anyone who can log in to Planning Center.

Activate two-step verification

You can activate two-step verification from any Planning Center product.

Important

The option to log in with a phone number is not available when two-step verification is enabled. You must log in using an email address.

  1. Select your profile picture or initials from the toolbar, in the top right corner of the page.

  2. If two-step verification is inactive, select My login settings.

  3. Select the Enable two-step verification button on the Login Settings page.

  4. Choose between two options of where you'd like to receive your security codes on the Two-Step Verification page.

    • Authenticator App: If you have an application like Google Authenticator, Authy, Duo Mobile, or Microsoft Authenticator on your device, you can use one of those apps to generate a code.

    • Text Message: Use a mobile phone number that can receive texts.

Follow the in-app directions to set up your authenticator app or text message code delivery, and then you'll receive a one-time code that will verify you are the one logging in. Once you've confirmed the code, two-step verification will be activated for your profile!

Tip

The last page of the verification process has your emergency backup code. Store this code in a secure place in case you lose the device you use to receive your security code.

How two-step verification works with linked accounts

In order to enable two-step verification for multiple accounts at once, ensure the accounts are linked first. Once the accounts are linked, enable two-step verification following the steps above.

Accounts with two-step verification already enabled can only be linked if they share the same recovery code. If you are unable to link accounts that have two-step verification enabled, first disable two-step verification. Then, link the accounts and enable two-step verification again.

Remove two-step verification

  1. Select your profile picture or initials from the toolbar, in the top right corner of the page.

  2. Select My login settings.

  3. Select the Remove verification device button on the Login Settings page.

  4. Enter the code sent to your device in order to verify that you want to remove the device.
